Upcoming Roundtable to Explore Innovation at the Water-Energy Nexus
Experts from academia, industry, and public institutions will come together on 21 May 2025 for a dynamic online Round Table (WG2) titled "Harvesting Synergies: Innovation at the Water-Energy Nexus." The event, hosted online from the Cavalieri Hotel, will run from 09:00 to 10:30 CEST.
As water and energy systems become increasingly interlinked, the roundtable will focus on innovative solutions that drive sustainability and resilience across sectors. Topics will include advancements in hydropower applications, energy recovery technologies, and drinking water systems. The discussion will emphasise the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration and how it can unlock new opportunities for innovation.
The session will be moderated by Dogan Gezer, and will feature leading voices in the field:
Prof. Miroslav Marence (IHE Delft Institute for Water Education), a recognized expert in hydraulic engineering and river basin development, with extensive experience in hydropower infrastructure and education.
Miroslav Petrinić (Končar Institute), an R&D leader specializing in hydro generator innovation, focusing on cutting-edge monitoring technologies and new rotor designs.
Prof. George A. Aggidis (Lancaster University), an internationally renowned expert in energy engineering and renewable energy technology, including hydropower and wave energy conversion systems like the TALOS WEC.
